For example, in the play, it said: “love looks not with eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.”(pg.23) This means that it shouldn’t matter what a person looks like and you should love them for their personality. Do you marry him.”(pg.19) This quote was said by Lysander with the love he has for Hermia and jealousy that Demetrius might get to marry Hermia. These couples have shown love in more romantic wags throughout the play. Finally, love is the lead to marriage in this play. All four couples get married. In the summary (on pg.83) it said “the three couples have just been married and have dined. Theseus and Hippolyta discuss the story the lovers told of their night in the forest.” This summary basically explains that the couples got married and it is worth fighting for true love. Shakespeare has pointed out that there can be many struggles in love but doesn’t give up because it could lead to something wonderful, like a marriage. In conclusion, love is the main theme in A Midsummer Night’s Dream because there are parts of the play that show love, the four beautiful lovely couples, and the marriage at the end.
